The Postal Service posted a teaser video on Twitter yesterday, saying, “your meeting will begin tomorrow.” Now, the duo of Benjamin Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello, along with collaborator Jenny Lewis, have shared a 19-minute video of Zoom “auditions” to be in the group. The auditioners include “Weird Al” Yankovic, Big Freedia, Huey Lewis, TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, Japanese Breakfast, Guns N’ Roses’ Slash and Duff McKagan, Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis, and Anne Hathaway. Watch the full video, which was directed by Tom Scharpling, below.

The faux auditions were filmed as a PSA for HeadCount’s “Make Your Vote Count” campaign, and they follow a similarly themed 2013 video that coincided with the 10th anniversary reissue of their debut album.

In August, Benjamin Gibbard played two songs for the remote edition of the 2020 Democratic National Convention. He sang his Death Cab for Cutie track “Northern Lights,” as well as the Postal Service classic “Such Great Heights,” which he dedicated to the United States Postal Service. The duo’s first and only full-length, Give Up, came out in 2003.
